The Japanese diagnostic analysis team worked together with the GEM-CC wood lab team to analyze some of the wood artifacts using XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) and Digital Microscope.

This time, the teams have analyzed some of King Tutankhamen’s beds and chariots, confirming some elements found on the surface of the bed.

Using these diagnostic analysis techniques, the types of materials used in ancient times as well as materials used in previous conservation can be identified.

The results of this analysis will help to understand the state of conservation and might be applied in the conservation research hereafter.
