As the artifacts arrive to GEM-CC and get unpacked, the fumigation team always makes necessary visual inspection and decides the procedures for following fumigation.

After visual inspection by the fumigation team, if fumigation deemed necessary, it will go on to the next process.

In the case of our Follow Artifacts, the ritual bed of Tutankhamun was decided to proceed with anoxia fumigation. It was conducted with a specially built tent of Escal film in the Fumigation Lab headed by Manar El Khail using modified atmosphere (oxygen absorbers (RP system) and Nitrogen gas). The treatment continued for 2 weeks under careful inspection of fumigation team leader.

Other items like textile artifacts were decided to be treated with anoxia fumigation using Escal film and the oxygen absorbers (RP system) only.
