The documentation and analysis work of the Tutankhamun Canopy has been moving forward smoothly since it arrived in GEM-CC in late June last year. The Egyptian experts continued the established procedures in the documentation and analysis. The process went relatively quicker given the fact that it was the last artifact to be transported to GEM-CC.

The team is now finalizing all remaining analysis work including observation with the digital microscope to identify wood species as well as XRF analysis and the appropriate photographic documentation. The experts have been studying archaeological references to make sure that the Canopy parts are all installed in their correct position not only to ensure its archaeological integrity but also to preserve the artifact in good condition for many years and for many future generations to appreciate.

The team thinks that further study is required to collect more results, which they plan to utilize for enriching its display and deliver its story to the visitors of GEM after it opens.
